In the south west of Ireland, County Kerry there is a route taking you in a circle. At 179km in length, it is not something that you can complete in a day on foot, but on the route you will see the impressive landscape that Ireland is famous for – the wild Atlantic coastline from the clifftops, white sandy beaches and further inland beautiful mountainous landscapes of Glencar.
It is also a walk where wildlife lovers may be able to spot a lot of the local animals that live around this area – from herds of wild red deer, to white tailed eagles and even the native red squirrel. The ancient forests filled with oak trees are perfect places to see the wildlife.
There are lots of lovely towns and villages that you can stop and look around whilst on your route too, where you can find out more of the history of the local area, enjoy some excellent food and browse the shops.
