To wash or not to wash? That is the question. You may have heard the debate over whether or not we should be washing our jeans quite as often as we do. So, what do the experts say?

Well, spot cleans can be performed on any stains and this can be done with a toothbrush. However, all this is a bit of a shock to the average consumer. Once we have worn a garment, it’s natural to throw it into the laundry basket, right?

But, according to the denim experts, a quality pair of jeans should only be washed infrequently, if at all. Washing jeans can wreak havoc with the fabric. Other fashion houses have agreed and stated that a new pair of jeans should be worn for 6 months before washing and the longer it can be left, the better the jeans will look! However, if you really can’t bear the thought of walking around in dirty jeans, then manufacturers suggest placing your jeans in the freezer overnight and this will kill off any bacteria hanging around. You can also air them in the sunshine or apply a neutralising spray.

Whichever way you look at it, it pays to leave your jeans as long as is bearable before throwing into the washing machine.
