Building a home of your own is a dream for many people – the ability to have full control over the style and layout of the home has a huge appeal. Before you start planning your dream home however, you need to find yourself a plot of land to build it on.
When doing this, here are a few things to think about when you are hunting for your perfect plot and things that you should consider before you take the plunge to buy the plot of land:
Will the Property be overlooked? Have a look at the layout of the other properties in the surrounding area and consider how you want yours to be laid out when looking at this. Also look at planning maps and check out future development applications that may happen in the future to see if it is likely that you may have other homes in the vicinity.
Do you have Children? If you have children or are planning to have them in the future, one of the important things to consider are the local schools. What schools will be in the catchment area? Check on the Ofsted reports for these schools and see if they are suitable for your children.
What is the Flooding Risk? With climate change, we have seen a lot of flooding in recent years, so look into the history of the land to see if it has flooded or been close to being flooded to make sure that you don’t have a house full of water in the future!
