Garden Jobs that are Perfect for the Winter

The winter is actually an ideal time to be out in the garden. You may not think it but there are lots of jobs that you can do outdoors in the winter that are actually much easier at this time of the year than in the summer, as well as being more beneficial too.

Here are some of the things you can get on with over the cooler months of the year…

General Repairs – It is a good idea to check around your garden for any repairs that may need doing – because of the bad weather in the winter, by doing something now you could be saving yourself a much bigger job in the long run. Check for signs of damage to fences and sheds, such as rotten wood or structural weakness. It is also a good time to maintain all of your garden machinery which will be used less over winter – for lawnmowers for example you can easily get Briggs and Stratton parts online from places like Briggs Bits.

The Wildlife – Looking after the local wildlife is particularly important over the winter. With the lack of food and habitat destruction causing a problem for the wildlife that makes a home in our gardens it is good to pay particular attention to looking after it over the winter. Put up bug hotels for insects looking for somewhere to shelter and bird tables where you can feed the hungry garden birds over the winter when food is scarce.
